Ben Bekele

Senior Manager

Ben Bekele is a Sr. Manager within the service provider business & technology architecture team. Ben is responsible for driving thought leadership and positioning for Cisco's end-to-end architecture in video, cloud and mobility. He also works on identifying new business models enabled by emerging technologies. He is also responsible for business case analysis of new technology architectures. He is currently focused on quantifying the revenue opportunities enabled by SDN and NFV in the ICT market. He also leads the development of Cisco's Monetization and Optimization Index (MOI) forecast focused on showing service providers how much money they can make in cloud, mobile and video services.

He also engages in consulting engagements with service providers worldwide. He helps service providers build their technology and business strategy to enable new monetization & optimization architectures. He has consulted with numerous telcos, mobile, and cloud and cable service providers in North America, Western Europe and Asia Pacific.

In the past, he was the video solution marketing manager responsible for driving thought leadership and market positioning of next generation IP network enabling a unified video experience. He was also responsible for thought leadership of end-to- end cable solution---incorporating CMTS, QAM, HFC access, IP/optical transport, and DOCSIS CPE products.

Ben joined Cisco after spending a number of years at Cox Communications, in a Principal architect role investigating new technologies and their relevance to Cox. During this time, he was a sought-after speaker at numerous industry conferences, including CableLabs, SCTE, and TMF events. He also represented Cox at Cablelabs where he was part of the focus team that developed DOCSIS 2.0 & DOCSIS 3.0 specifications. He also championed numerous Cablelabs specifications including L2VPN and IPDR standards.

Ben holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in EE from Georgia Institute of Technology. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Southern Polytechnic University. He is an active member of IEEE and SCTE.
