Mobile World Congress 2014 is underway at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain.
As well as providing the WiFi network to the event, which has over 1200 access points covering the 2.6m sq feet conference venues, Cisco had a number of exciting demos within the booth area in Hall 3.
Cisco’s theme is around utilizing your network infrastructure for business outcomes, being more intelligent, utilizing analytics and delivering capabilities and monetization opportunities.
Utilizing location based information along with various other network related information interesting dashboards and views of the event are possible. These screens show how using the Cisco open infrastructure various sources of data are combined in to a graphical view of the Fira conference venue during day 1 of MWC 2014. Read More »

Today is the final day of a very busy and successful Cisco Live Milan 2014. Read my initial observations from the event earlier this week.
As the event draws to a close, lets look at some of the location analytics available via Cisco’s Connected Mobile Experiences solution (CMX) and perhaps try to answer some of the following questions about the event.
For this I will just focus on the World of Solutions Show floor -- approximately 800,000 sq feet in size, and containing all the Cisco Booths and the partner displays.
- How many people actually visited the world of solutions?
- How many people did the different Cisco Booths attract?
- Where was the busiest part of the show floor?
These and other insights can be derived from looking at the business intelligence that emerges from CMX. Read More »

Cisco Live Milan 2014 kicked off this morning with an opening keynote by Rob Lloyd. During the session Rob shared Cisco’s vision of the Internet of Everything, and explored the industry trends and technologies that are making that vision a reality. One of these areas is enabled by Cisco’s CMX solutions and our growing ecosystem of partners.
To illustrate how this vision is becoming a reality, a CMX demo was shown on stage. The demo related to a wine producer ( we are in Italy by the way..) who was able to engage with their customers via their mobile app. Enabling the customer find the particular wines they are interested in, interact with the wine maker, get location specific promotions and really deliver a highly personalized and location specific service.

More and more organizations across industries are realizing that providing simple, easy Wi-Fi for customers, guests, visitors, and more is becoming a basic expectation. Consumers are used to their always-on, always-connected lifestyles, so naturally their checklist for any venue they step into will now include “Wi-Fi” as a top priority. Good thing Cisco has not one but two simple ways for organizations with venues to provide easy Wi-Fi access for their consumers. One is CMX Connect, which you read about in the MSE blog series. The other is CMX for Facebook Wi-Fi.
We announced our partnership with Facebook last October to help connect businesses with their consumers at Interop New York. This Wednesday, January 22nd, we are having a special live webinar to give our customers a deeper dive into the Cisco and Facebook Wi-Fi solution. Register to join us at 10am PST!
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from Cisco and Facebook speakers, as well as a special guest customer, to learn more about our joint-solution. Hear how CMX for Facebook Wi-Fi can help boost recognition for your brand, foster stronger relationships with customers, and promote your business by connecting you directly to customers through Facebook.

This week CES was once again held in Las Vegas with in excess of 100,000 people in attendance.
Cisco demonstrated a number of CMX and IoT related things this week.
Firstly “The Internet of Everything: On The Go”
In the Cisco booth some future thinking was applied with a concept that imagines the shopping experience with a simulated retail environment: “BigBox.” While shopping at BigBox, visitors can walk through a combination of experiences involving location-based data, video, predictive analytics, security cameras, and sensors – designed to help retailers enrich the shopping trip for their customers, and more efficiently manage their stores.
Somewhat scary for some and exciting for others, while all the time enabling retailer increase their bottom line and deliver improved and personalized shopping experience to the consumers.
The next demo “Starlight Resort” was a combination of CMX, and Small Cell capabilities in the hotel resort environment. Read More »
