Chief Technology and Strategy Officer, Services

Kip Compton is Chief Technology and Strategy Officer for Cisco’s Services business, responsible for driving Cisco’s Services business and technology strategy and portfolio management. Working cross-functionally with Cisco’s technical and strategy communities, he identifies new market segments and partner opportunities and develops technology roadmaps to enable new strategic opportunities for Cisco.

Previously at Cisco, Compton served as Vice President of Cisco’s Internet of Things Systems and Software Group (IoTSSG), where he was responsible for developing a broad portfolio of IoT connectivity platforms and advanced software platforms. Additionally, he served as General Manager of Cisco’s Service Provider Video Software and Solutions Group, Chief Technology Officer for Cisco’s Video and Collaboration Group, and Vice President and General Manager of Strategy and Product Management for the Service Provider Video Technology Group.

Compton has more than 20 years of senior leadership experience in systems, software, and network engineering, including roles with both vendors and service providers. His areas of expertise include video, distributed systems, content distribution, collaboration technologies, and digital media security. Before joining Cisco, he served three years with Comcast as Vice President of Video and Media Engineering, responsible for development of Comcast’s digital cable, content security, video on demand, and streaming media infrastructure and services.

Compton holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science and a master’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a master of business administration degree from the Wharton School. He holds multiple patents in the areas of digital video, content security, and networking.
