Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust oversees several hospitals in West Yorkshire, England. Back in early Winter 2020, it was preparing to fight COVID-19. Like the rest of the world, it had little idea what to expect.

What the Trust did know was that it would need to coordinate health teams and thousands of pieces of equipment across two sites, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pandemic’s sudden arrival exacerbated the demand for hospital PPE and ventilators. Due to national and global shortages, it was imperative that the Trust tracked every bit of equipment its hospitals had on hand. When it comes to patients with potential breathing issues, lives depend on access to the right equipment at the right time.

When it comes to patients with potential breathing issues, lives depend on access to the right equipment at the right time.

Within a week, the Trust was able to secure a real-time asset tracking solution integrated on STANLEY Healthcare and Cisco platforms powered by Cisco DNA Spaces. This allowed the Trust to accurately track every piece of critical equipment, from doctors’ iPads to ventilators.

“Asset tracking was always in our roadmap. During COVID, we had to really pick the pace up,” said Luke Stockdale, Director of Digital Transformation & Innovation, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. “Clinicians now have the right equipment to the right place at the right time. Frontline staff have more time to care for patients. Things we thought were impossible a few months ago are now possible.”

See how STANLEY Healthcare and Cisco partnered to help healthcare providers digitize inventory tracking and ensure that critical equipment is always at hand during the race to save lives.
