For nearly 30 years, the Cisco Learning and Certifications organization has been an industry leader with a rich history of developing networking careers by providing cutting-edge technology training to businesses and IT professionals. We are driven by our passion for customer success, but a positive customer experience in a multi-vendor solution world can be challenging. So, we set out with the sole purpose to improve the learner’s experience and knowledge, focusing their talent on transforming their careers and businesses, faster and further.
Today, we are excited to announce our new digital learning experience. We call it Cisco U.
What is Cisco U.?
Cisco U. is a digital learning experience built around the learner; with quick-start pre-skill assessments, modular learning, advanced search, and a focus on goal setting, it is designed to work for everyone’s unique journey.
With personalized recommendations and feedback, plus learning in the moment of need, Cisco U. can guide learners to the right role or solution, helping them grow their skills, to accelerate their business transformation.
Cisco U. guides learners and teams to their tech learning goals. Whether you need training to seek a certification, role, or solution, we have you covered, with courses, a vibrant community, and deep content for both Cisco and third-party technologies, shaped to how you learn.
“Cisco U. helps our customers to discover and learn the key infrastructure as code concepts to adopt Cisco Intersight Service for HashiCorp Terraform. As one of the first partners to offer our trainings with Cisco U., we look forward to expanding on our joint customer success and driving community engagement.”
—Brent Holden, Vice President and Global Field CTO, HashiCorp
Cisco U. Features
Our community of 1M+ learners helped develop Cisco U. by placing emphasis on:
- Goal-based learning paths can guide learners toward certifications, help them earn badges, and allow them to track their progress; role-based paths build specific skill sets, provide faster completion times, and reduce repetitive learning.
- Solution-based learning is crafted around Cisco and adjacent technologies to form comprehensive learning paths, including security analyst, network automation, and hybrid cloud content with contributions from Cisco partners like HashiCorp and Skillsoft.
- Project-based learning enables topic-specific training, ensuring everyone starts a project with the same foundational knowledge set.
- AI-driven recommendations and machine learning (ML) personalization options get more refined the more learners use Cisco U.
- And much more!
“Cisco U. provides an end-to-end solution learning experience that showcases rich learning content. Through our shared vision for transformative learning experiences, we have expanded our strategic partnership with Cisco to reskill, upskill, and help learners worldwide achieve their goals and help organizations adapt and grow.”
—Eric Stine, Chief Revenue Officer, Skillsoft
How Cisco U. Drives Customer Experience
According to Thimaya Subaiya, Senior Vice President and GM, Customer Experience at Cisco, “There are a lot of people involved in the customer experience. It’s not just one company. It’s the partners involved, it’s the customers themselves. If you look at today’s world, especially in a cloud-based world, nobody is depending on one vendor to solve their problems. Companies can depend on 50-100 vendors, in some cases, to solve various problems.”
Cisco U. makes it simple for our learners to thrive in our modern, multi-vendor world. By offering Cisco learning content, alongside third-party training, Cisco U. delivers a holistic solution training experience.

Looks like it would be a big help.
Certification candidates need to be aware that any certifications achieved can be wiped out by Cisco at a moments notice. After passing 19 cisco certification exams at my own expense. I’m left with CCNA and CyberOps Associate. I lost CCNA Wireless, Security, Data Center, CCDA and CCNP Voice due to changes made by Cisco in their certification tracks.
Thank you for your concern, we will try to contact you directly to understand more.
I am excited to be part of this and looking forward to taking the Security Analyst 1 course and how it may advance my career! Thank you, Cisco!
Thanks Rico. You can give the Security Analyst 1 course a test drive during our early access program. https://mkto.cisco.com/ciscou-ea.html?utm_campaign=ciscou-ea&utm_source=blog&utm_medium=meet-cisco-u
Wow, Cisco always comes with new ideas of learning.
Thanks, Liaqat!
I currently have a Cisco Digital Learning subscription. Is Cisco U intended to (eventually) replace that service, or will the two offerings both continue to be offered? How do the two compare?
Thanks!
This sounds like a good supplement to certification and real life skills.
