Bill Gerhardt is a Director responsible for defining and executing all aspects of Cisco’s service provider strategy in the emerging IoT/M2M industry. To that end, Bill is helping Cisco identify and prioritize internal investments, as well as external partnerships, needed to develop industry-leading solutions that service providers can use to accelerate their success in this rapidly growing market. In this position, Bill has responsibility for defining the SP’s next generation mobile IoT platform requirements and packaging end-to-end vertical solutions that can be sold through the service provider channel.
Bill moved into his current role after nearly 10 years leading the mobility practice of Cisco’s
Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG), which is an industry-leading management consulting organization that works with customer executive teams to accelerate their success in leveraging new technologies for competitive advantage. In that role, Bill crossed global theaters and segments to implement business strategies that evolved the use of mobility, video and analytics to create new opportunities for monetization, while also seeking out areas for greater efficiency. His thought leadership has significantly advanced such topics as as big data analytics, network virtualization, next-generation mobile workforce, multiscreen TV, fixed-mobile convergence and service provider Wi-Fi.
Bill brings over 20 years of engineering, sales and product marketing experience within the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining Cisco, he was a line of business manager within Verizon, leading all areas of marketing and product management for a successful global software business unit.
Bill holds an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Marketing from The University of Pittsburgh and a BSEE from Widener University.
Bill lives in Vienna, Virginia, with his wife and two teenage sons.
