DevNet Day
With Cisco DevNet growing in strategic importance with enterprise developers and a strong community of half a million plus, we dedicated June 18 as DevNet Day, complementary to Cisco Live.
Event Summary
The DevNet day started with a welcome keynote by Cisco leaders Mandy Whaley, Susie Wee, Todd Nightingale and Oliver, followed by a “What’s New With DevNet” and a Demo Jam. The Demo Jam was a lightning round of demos and projects from our external community members and our DevNet Developer Advocate team. Over 80,000 visitors graced DevNet Day, with many sharing positive feedback on the quality of the sessions, presenters, and Q&A moderators.
Data Center Networking Track
Let us look at the key happenings in Data Center Networking track, from ACI and NX-OS standpoint, where I had the privilege of moderating the sessions form start to end.
Quinn Snyder started with two back-back sessions on ACI and NX-OS programmability, followed by Tim Millers’ container-based applications on Nexus 9000 Series Switches. Lionel Hercot, our in-house expert on Ansible and CI/CD pipelines, had a great time keeping developers rapt in attention, with his “All Things Ansible” and “Deconstructing DCN CI/CD Pipelines”. Lionel’s compatriot Nick Vermande complemented with a session “Composable Infrastructure with ACI with Terraform” and I know how busy and lively the session was, answering questions at a rapid clip. Cisco Senior PM, Asha Hegde did a session featuring ServiceNow with Cisco ACI and NAE, giving highlights of self-driving networks and how Intent Based Networking envisions a network which can identify network issues and self-administer resolutions for those issues.
