Julie Rose manages the Economic Empowerment portfolio for the Cisco Foundation and Cisco Social Innovation Investments team. She invests in tech-enabled solutions that provide individuals with equitable opportunities and contribute to local community growth and economic development in a sustainable economy. Julie works closely with her grantee partners in the impact areas of skills to careers, inclusive entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion to ensure they are empowered with the tools they need to make an impact in their space. Julie has been with Cisco for 18 years, with a range of experience including employee engagement, matching gifts, employee communications, video production, strategic planning, and executive communications management. Prior to Cisco, Julie was the senior manager of marketing and communications for eight years for a mid-sized high-tech company in Silicon Valley. She has a passion for creativity, communication, and connecting concepts – and people. She holds a B.A in Humanities from San Jose State University and an M.A. in English from the University of Virginia; she is the author of three novels and the host of an interview-based podcast. Julie lives in Northern California with her husband and three rescue cats.
