At the CableLabs Summer Conference last week in the Keystone Conference Center outside of Denver, Colorado, Cisco CMX was demonstrated live on stage showing up to the moment information on the venue and the attendees.

The audience consisted of approximately 400 attendees, with the room at full capacity, mostly business leaders from CableLabs member organizations including all the top tier operators.

At the conference, we conducted a live demo on stage showing CMX Analytics of the conference venue. The demo showed dwell times, heatmaps of the venue, patterns of movement of the devices among other items.

The feedback was compelling especially as the attendees could see and understand the information provided within the venue.

For example focusing on the main conference room over the morning showed up 845 devices with an average dwell time of 46 minutes.

The cable industry is facing a number of challenges in coming years and from speaking with delegates it seem clear that WiFi location based services and analytics that can be provided by Cisco’s CMX has a role to  play. It makes for an exciting next few years as the industry evolves.
