Delivering Mobile Experiences “Your Way”

Today, Cisco is kicking off its “Your Way” campaign which is focused on the universally desired but sophisticated requirements around the delivery of mobile experiences.  Not just mobile access – that is simply changing an access type – but rather a mobile experience that maps to your needs depending on the device you’re holding, the service or application you’re using, the time and location you want it  — in sum, it’s a mobile experience “your way.”

You’ll see Cisco highlighting this in a variety of forums – from an opening webcast featuring Cisco CTO Padmasree Warrior  and BT to an array of on-going activities such as a dedicated website advertisements and even in future innovation announcements like the major one we’ll be having on June 5th (you can register here to be among the first to hear the news. And when we do, you’ll see that we promote that such personalized, superior mobile experiences “don’t have to compromise the way of business.”

While that phrasing may make sense for the Bring Your Own Device trend in the Enterprise where many CIOs are concerned about security and compliance, how does it apply to Service Providers?

Cisco and SAP : State of the collaboration and New Reseller Agreement

May 16, 2012 at 6:30 am PST

The second day at SAPPHIRE 2012 has been as intense as the first day --  After interviewing one of the first UCS customer (Monsanto) about the deployment of SAP applications , I did a round of videos with EMC, NetApp and Cisco executives to measure our presence in this market and our collaboration with key players. Stay tuned for the videos on integrated stacks  (Vblock with EMC, Flexpod with NetApp) .  Today I like to share two videos

I met Cisco VP Marketing, Data Center and Cloud , Giuliano Di Vitantonio, who shared why Cisco is at Sapphire 2012 , and what specifically Cisco and SAP are working on together -- Legitimate questions from some of our visitors, as Cisco has a great image as a network provider, but is still building the recognition as a server and software powerhouse.  Take the time to watch this short video to appreciate the breadth of the collaboration and understand why SAP is so interested in deepening this partnership.  And in fact, another step in this collaboration was announced yesterday  (see the second video)

The second video is the announcement by Flint Brenton, Sr. VP Intelligent Automation Solutions BU, of a reseller agreement between SAP and Cisco

Expect more comments on this solution and agreement in the following  days from our  Unified Management experts.

Talking about experts . If you are in Orlando today don’t forget

-To attend at 12:00 pm the speaking session from Michael Missbach , our head of the SAP Competence Center

A Mobile Experience ‘Your Way.’ A Revolution?

As technologists we often use the term revolutionary to describe market trends, industry advancements, or new solutions.  And on occasion we may have over used the term to emphasize the impact a particular change has or can have on the market.

However, I feel very comfortable describing the opportunities we’re seeing now with mobility as something that could truly be revolutionary. It is no secret the world is becoming more mobile.  Every time I walk down the street, I see an increasing number of people interacting with smart phones and tablets.  The same is true in the office as our co-workers are using multiple devices to connect, communicate and collaborate – part of the “bring your own device” (BYOD) phenomenon.

BYOD: No Longer a Four-Letter Word to Enterprise IT Leaders?

Until now, it’s been assumed that enterprise IT leaders probably view the current BYOD (“Bring Your Own Device”) movement with about the same enthusiasm as a farmer awaiting the next locust invasion.

A recent survey from the Cisco Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG), however, indicates that BYOD may no longer be a “four-letter word” in enterprise IT departments. In fact, the study of 600 U.S. enterprise IT leaders—all from companies of 1,000 or more employees—shows that, if anything, BYOD now has a predominantly positive reputation in U.S. enterprise IT circles.
