The way that healthcare is delivered and experienced is very different today than just three years ago. And to me, the most meaningful impacts of this transformation occur at individual moments in time. I imagine the busy working mom who saves time and hassle by making doctor’s appointments on her smartphone; or the overworked clinician who enjoys more time at home thanks to telehealth and mobile workflows. These are the changes I’m most excited about as we move into a mobile-first, data-driven, and ultimately, more human delivery of healthcare.
Cisco’s presence at HIMSS19 – coming up next week! – is a reflection of this vision. This year, we’ve created an experience that’s not only about technology, but about what you can do with it. And we’ve brought it to life by crafting a story that takes you through the experiences of a hypothetical patient and clinician.
Here’s a sneak peek of the characters you’ll meet:
Opal Lee is a young and expectant mother of twins. Sitting in the coffee shop, Opal gets a text reminder about her upcoming appointment. She texts back that she isn’t feeling her best. The AI chatbot takes over from there, escalating her message appropriately.
Dr. Dogood is the Neonatologist for Opal’s babies. His services are in high demand and he is all about efficiency. He’s on-call but at home when he receives a secure text from the NICU nurse about a concern. Before he even arrives at the hospital, he’s able to perform a number of tasks online.
There’s much more to both of these stories, but you’ll have to visit the booth to find out! There, you’ll see how we can help power the evolution of Opal and Dr. Dogood’s experiences through data: Real-time, contextual and actionable data from the data center, the network, the people, and IoT devices throughout the hospital. Along the way, you’ll see the very latest in clinical mobility, care team collaboration, automation, analytics, asset location, security, and more.

Or – even better – visit us at HIMSS in Orlando, February 12-14. You’ll find Cisco at Booth 848.
