As I wind down and get ready for Thanksgiving, I am thankful for so many people in my life. At Cisco, I have the opportunity to work with amazing people around the world dedicated to helping others. These people are the heroes who help, teach, heal, serve, and protect us.

At Cisco, we believe it is our role to help heroes around the world dedicated to public service.  We share our vision in this short video titled “Being There.”

Today, being there is more important than ever.

After Hurricane Sandy, the Cisco TacOps team deployed resources and NERV vehicles to help support multiple public safety and disaster relief NGO organizations in NY and NJ.

At the recent US National Convention, Cisco helped ensure safety and security with communications capabilities for operations centers and field personnel with secure access to the Long Term Evolution (LTE) applications to help to support command awareness and enable sharing of real-time activity with staff and public information officials.

Last week, Cisco helped government leaders in Australia and New Zealand with inaugural Telework Week 2012.

And, earlier this summer, as the Official Network Infrastructure supporter to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games it was so exciting to see athletes from countries around the world compete and celebrate excellence.

Around the world, Cisco and our partners are focused on helping our customers through Connected Health, Connected Education, and Connected Government initiatives to support the heroes dedicated to helping others.

We would love to hear how we can help the heroes in your life in government and public sector, the teachers, the doctors, the emergency responders, and the leaders dedicated to public service.

Please let us know your ideas via the Global Government Twitter channel, our 21st Century Government Facebook community, and our Cisco Global Government website.
