Back in October, we introduced Cisco Kinetic for Cities, our platform designed to enable Cities to unlock the value of the data being generated by connected machines, things and spaces. As the evolution of our connected digital platform, Cisco Kinetic for Cities is a cloud-based platform that helps cities extract, compute, and move data from connected things to IoT applications with high security to deliver better outcomes and citizen services.

Today, we’re excited to share that AT&T has announced it is exploring opportunities to integrate the Cisco Kinetic for Cities platform into select AT&T Smart Cities solutions, including its AT&T Smart Cities Operations Center (SCOC).

SCOC provides a near real-time view of ongoing activity in a city by securely aggregating and analyzing the enormous amount of data generated from multiple city departments and into a centralized dashboard. Together with Cisco Kinetic for Cities, which is purpose-built to harness the power of a city’s data to drive smart city initiatives forward, SCOC can provide the visibility city leaders need to make faster, more informed decisions. This will help cities simplify operations, enable new revenue sources, and allow leaders to be more responsive to citizen needs.

We’re big believers in the power of a strong ecosystem of partners when it comes to simplifying the smart city journey. And through this collaboration with AT&T we aim to not only simplify the journey, but arm city leaders with even more insight into their data, and the ability to unlock the power of that data and put it to work so that it delivers maximum value to their cities.

Getting maximum value from your data will look different to each city – but one thing is clear. You’ll need a platform that can bring together citywide data, enabling it to be used by previously siloed devices, applications, and services. Once unlocked, data that was once used by a single party to power a single application can now be utilized by many parties across many applications, multiplying the value of that data and enabling an unlimited amount of new services that help increase the quality of life in today’s cities.

AT&T has long been committed to helping drive digital transformation for cities around the globe, and the AT&T Smart Cities Operations Center is a powerful solution for enabling city leaders today. We’re excited to combine SCOC with Cisco Kinetic for Cities to continue to accelerate the success of connected cities worldwide.
