Cisco UCS Mini – Powering Microsoft Applications

April 7, 2015 - 10 Comments

Since Cisco UCS Mini launched last September, Cisco and our partners (Citrix, EMC, Microsoft, NetApp, Nimble Storage, Oracle, SAP, and VMware) have been hard at work putting together a wide variety of solutions.

On the way to tradeshow week (May 4th), I’ll be doing a brief blog series on UCS Mini tied to these shows.

First up, Microsoft Ignite in Chicago. This will be my fourth year talking with our customers and potential customers at Microsoft events and I’m really looking forward to it!

As a good starting point, read Optimize Microsoft Environments with Cisco UCS Mini. It is a great overview of our compute, management, and networking integrations with Microsoft.

While any UCS Mini blade solution can be used with Microsoft operating systems and applications, sometimes local storage just isn’t enough. We have three specific solutions offering expanded storage.

A FlexPod (with NetApp storage) is also a great choice for Microsoft Windows Server. Check out the FlexPod with Cisco UCS Mini Design Guide.

If you can’t wait to learn about all of our solutions, I’ve summarized them in the Cisco UCS Mini: Powering Applications At-a-Glance.

Are you going to Microsoft Ignite in May? Stop by Cisco’s booth (#122) to talk with our experts on why Cisco UCS servers are the ideal platform for your Microsoft applications. Hope to see you there.

Great things come in small packages. #CiscoUCS Mini is small, but mighty.

  1. Hi Bill, Great blog post! I like the video too! Keep up the great work!

  2. Bill – Great post! Any way I can schedule some time with you or another Cisco UCS techie at MS Ignite? UCS Mini fits perfectly with our service catalog.
In any case, see you in Chicago!

    • I’d be happy to talk with you at MS Ignite! I’m in the booth all four days the expo is open, just stop by. If I’m not there, we have great group of folks so I’m sure we can answer your questions.

  3. Bill, great blog with lots of great information. I like the video and the At A Glance doc the most.

    • Renee, thanks for the kind words. We have a lot of UCS Mini related content that I will be highlighting over the next several weeks. Keep coming back for more!

  4. UCS Mini is getting a lot of industry attention – the ability to support different applications with ease seems to be the key to success!

    • Tina, thanks for taking the time to read & comment on the blog. Be on the lookout for future blogs on UCS Mini and other applications / solutions to your point!

  5. Bill, great post. UCS Mini appeals to all IT segments – SMB to Enterprise. If I was a channel partner in IAMCP (International Assoc. of MSFT Channel partners), or HTG (Heartland Technology Group) I would be seriously looking at UCS Mini for a variety of scenarios.

    • Thanks for the feedback Rex. I completely agree – anyone selling Microsoft solutions should consider how UCS/UCS Mini can help both then and their customers.
