Philippines-based Asurion has spent decades protecting millions of personal tech devices for thousands of clients around the world. Asurion’s service plans provide end-to-end technical support and protection for household and personal devices—everything from flat-screen TVs, home appliances, laptops, and gaming consoles/headsets, to smart thermostats, home security systems, mobile phones, and more. Regardless of a device’s age or where it was purchased, when clients choose an Asurion device protection plan, they’re assured that it’s covered for replacement or repair.

That’s why when it comes to their own network, Asurion places security at the top of their requirements. John Patrick Duro, a security and risk analyst, works within Asurion’s Enterprise Technology Services division in the Philippines. John manages the company’s Security Operations Center (SOC) that is tasked with managing threat intelligence, vulnerability breaches, and identity access management. The SOC manages approximately 20,000 endpoints for client devices, along with nearly 6,000 additional physical and virtual servers.

Asurion’s service plans provide protection for a range of home and personal devices.

John, who has been with Asurion for two years, pointed out: “When I arrived, we didn’t have visibility into our Wi-Fi networks. It was a patchwork of devices from about seven different brands, so visibility was essentially impossible. We needed to roll out a consistent, visible, and secure Wi-Fi network.”

John and his team evaluated multiple vendors and ultimately chose Cisco Meraki and Cisco Security solutions to fully secure Asurion’s network that supports both office and home network access. John, a Cisco Certified Network Associate and Cisco Cybersecurity Ambassador, is one of our most engaged customer advocates in Cisco’s Global Gateway advocacy community. Learn why he and his team chose Cisco solutions for end-to-end peace of mind for Asurion’s critical network infrastructure.
