Shawna leads program development for Cisco corporate social responsibility initiatives including Global Problem Solvers: The Series and the annual Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge. Shawna has 20+ years of experience at Cisco in various roles, including the education transformation track of Connecting Sichuan, Cisco’s response to the devastating Sichuan earthquake. Shawna worked closely with school districts in New Orleans, LA as part of Cisco’s 21st Century Schools Initiative, an $80M USD investment in rebuilding and transforming schools after Hurricane Katrina in the US Gulf Coast. She holds a Bachelor of Education degree with a specialization in Educational Technology from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.

Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge announces $50K USD Pandemic Response Prize

To help accelerate tech for good solutions that address the challenges created by the pandemic, the Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge 2021 has added a special Pandemic Response Prize. The Pandemic Response Prize will be awarded to a startup responding to COVID-19 or future pandemic crises. The winning team will have an innovative technology solution that accelerates the response to, or recovery from, COVID-19 and its physical, social, or economic impact. The winner of the Pandemic Response Prize will be awarded $50,000 USD to accelerate the development of their solution.
