After teaming up for well over a year, Cisco and Cohesity remain focused on giving customers the ability to boost operational efficiency, reduce costs, and defend backup data against ransomware attacks. With hundreds of satisfied customers, including Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, The Master Group, Sky Lakes Medical Center, and Cisco’s own IT group, we wanted to go a step further in showcasing the actual benefits of our joint solution.
We understand the importance of having all the facts when making infrastructure choices, so we commissioned Forrester Consulting to conduct an independent Total Economic Impact™ (TEI) study—based on real-world customer experiences—to make it incredibly simple for organizations to evaluate the tangible value of Cohesity software on Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS). (Please feel free to download the study)
Let’s just cut to the chase: Our joint solution delivers an overall return on investment (ROI) of 150% in three years for the modeled composite organization. The payback period was just a year, and the total benefits present value realized was an impressive US$2.63 million.
According to Forrester’s TEI study, “After the investment in Cohesity on Cisco UCS, the customers’ organizations shifted to modern, hybrid cloud-based backup environments that provided improved visibility into their data holistically. In addition to improving efficiency for backup and recovery professionals, data administrators, application developers, and employees, the organizations’ backup environments became more reliable, and the organizations became more resilient to ransomware attacks and were better prepared to handle unpredictable events such as the global COVID-19 pandemic.”
A closer look at the results
To calculate ROI, Forrester interviewed four customers utilizing our joint solution, across different industries, and then aggregated their experiences and combined the results to create a single composite organization. The Forrester TEI customer interviews and financial analysis found that, when compared to the total cost of US$1.05 million, the total benefit was US$2.63M, yielding net benefits of US$1.57 million in present value for investment in Cohesity on Cisco UCS, as seen in Figure 1:
Some other notable findings:
- 83% – 99% reduction in recovery time
- 25% of the workday returned to data administrators and application developers by boosting efficiency in sharing backup data
- 70% reduction in annual storage infrastructure expenditures
- 80%+ less time to install servers with this Cisco Validated Design (CVD)
Benefits of Cohesity on Cisco UCS
Cohesity on Cisco UCS has delivered both impressive quantified and unquantified efficiency and cost benefits to organizations. While reducing the time of recovery processes and accelerating application development and testing, the joint solutions are also decreasing ransomware risks, boosting resilience, and easing cloud adoption according to customers interviewed.
The elimination of high costs, forklift upgrades and disruptive updates as well as mass data fragmentation are among the top reasons organizations seek integrated Cisco and Cohesity solutions. Moreover, teams shifting to remote and automated operations want to move increasing amounts of data to the cloud, but legacy solutions can’t natively support the effort. While Cohesity provides backup and recovery for modern and traditional data sources as well as file and object services for unstructured data, Cisco UCS unifies computing, networking, management, virtualization, and storage access. Certified as a CVD, the joint Cisco and Cohesity solution complements Cisco HyperFlex and Cisco Intersight and is available directly from Cisco—streamlining purchasing, deployment, and support.
