In a world increasingly driven by innovation and technology, investing in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) talent globally is more critical than ever. Despite this, many groups remain underrepresented in these fields globally, and South Africa is no exception. Recognizing this gap, Cisco has partnered with WomHub, a South African innovation hub geared toward women, to help bridge this divide and foster a more inclusive future for all.

As part of its commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs) in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, Cisco is working with WomHub, the East London Industrial Development Zone (ELIDZ), and the Department of Digital Communication and Technologies to drive impactful change in South Africa.

Expanding Opportunities Through the Cisco EDGE Centre

Building on the foundation of the Cisco EDGE Centre at ELIDZ, a hub for advancing digital skills and connectivity, this new initiative with WomHub aims to deepen its reach and impact. Funded by Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) Program, the EDGE Centre underscores Cisco’s purpose to Power an Inclusive Future for All by ensuring internet connectivity and digital tools are accessible for social and economic progress.

With a strong focus on skills development, entrepreneurship, and inclusive innovation, the program aims to accelerate digital adoption across the Eastern Cape. The EDGE Centre offers training, mentorship, and access to cutting-edge technology for SMMEs, with special emphasis on supporting female founders. This initiative underscores Cisco’s broader commitment to fostering inclusive growth and innovation.
