The UCS Power Scripting Contest closed on May 11th and the five finalists were announced at Microsoft TechEd today. They are:

Alberto Yanes New UCS Domain Config
UCS Manager LDAP Config
Joshua Barton UCS Backup
vCheck UCS Plugins
Matt Oswalt NetApp Storage True-Up

The entries will now be judged by the Community and our distinguished PowerShell judges: Jeffrey Snover, Rob Willis, Don Jones, Hal Rottenberg, & Thomas Maurer.

Vote on your favorite scripts on the Communities and be sure to Tweet about them with the hashtag #CiscoScripts.

Not to be left out, there were a bunch of submissions since update #3.

Build a UCS Environment for Citrix XenDesktop

Chris Carter, a Cisco Customer Solutions Architect, submitted a new UCS build script specifically tailored to Citrix XenDesktop. Chris explains just how easy it is:

“I have never written a script using any method prior to this one, and because of the power of the ConvertTo-UCS cmdlet, I was able to write the entire script in about a week.

For me, this was the real power of the tool… an amateur like me, having zero experience, writing a script that fully configured an environment from scratch, following all best practices developed jointly by Cisco and Citrix.”

Check UCS Inventory against a Field Notice

Submitted by Community user cgagliar123, this one-line script checks the chassis PSU serial numbers against a Cisco Field Notice.

Custom User Labels for Servers

Doron Chosnek, a Cisco Technical Solutions Architect, submitted a script that changes the user labels to reflect the server’s actual configuration. He even included a video showing the script in action!

vCheck UCS Plugins

Joshua Barton extended Alan Renouf‘s vCheck framework to include UCS.

Inventory Wizzard

Cisco Software Engineer Chaitra Sudarshana submitted an inventory script to capture all hardware and firmware information.

UCS Health Check

Cisco Solutions Architect Chris Shockey script validates the overall health of a UCS instance to be sure it is ready for any major change activity.

Default UCS Custom Script Template

Also by Chris, this script is meant to help others with their UCS scripts and error handling. It will overcome most common scripting errors that may occur while interacting with UCS.

UCS Health Check 2.1

Cisco Consulting System Engineer Brandon Beck updated his script. It produces some fantastic looking output.

Maybe you could use them in your environment? To review all of the scripts head over to the Cisco Communities.

The grand prize winner will be announced at Cisco Live 2014 during a DevNET Zone event on May 20th. Come to the party and meet some UCS PowerShell scripting experts.
