Virtual experience is reality in these times. At the ONUG Fall 2020 virtual event, that it is indeed the case as you can explore Enterprise Cloud, DevSecOps and automation all in one place.

Cisco is a Digital Innovator sponsor this year and brings an exciting agenda. You’ll find main stage panel talks, a Proof of Concept (POC) session, virtual booths in the exhibit hall and the opportunity to network with some of the best minds in open networking from Data Center, Cisco Umbrella and ThousandEyes. For me, it is a reconnection with ONUG after a 5-year hiatus and I can’t wait to immerse myself in everything the 2-day event has to offer this year.

Now, let me introduce five sessions you can’t miss at the event. Check out our event website for details, giveaways and more ways to connect.

1. Evolving Your Data Center Network from Cloud Ready to Cloud Native

Main Stage Panel
Wednesday, October 14, 12:10-1:00 p.m. ET
This session featuring eBay, Puppet, JPMorgan Chase and Cisco brings insights on why automation is important to them, discusses drivers and risks, and how their automation journey has evolved. In short, is shifting infrastructure from cloud ready to cloud native the best approach to transition workloads for the cloud? This panel session moderated by Cisco aims to discuss and answer this question.

2. Cultivating Women for IT Roles, Strategies and Approaches

Main Stage Panel
Thursday, October 15, 11:50 a.m. – 12:25 p.m. ET
This panel session features Cisco, Fidelity Investments, Caliber Home Loans, and ITS SRE Cloud as panelists. In this roundtable session, cultivating strategies and approaches to hiring women in technical roles is shared by hiring managers and HR. Come with your questions and be ready to share and learn.

3. Automating Cisco Nexus Switches with gNMI and Open Source Tools

Proof-of-Concept (POC) Session
Thursday, October 15, 11:35 – 11:50 a.m. ET
In this session, you get to see the latest innovations on automating Cisco Nexus switches with gNMI and open source tools. We’ll showcase our recent gNMI implementation, ecosystem integration with Telegraf and the overall TICK stack. We’ll highlight a use case for infrastructure as code to automatically configure an NX-OS device using open source tools and demo how gNMI is used to stream switch telemetry. The session will also include a demo on orchestration and automation use cases.

4. Driving the Revolution of Secure Networking with SASE

Open Session
Wednesday, October 14, 4:50 p.m. ET
Secure networking was easier when users worked out of a main office and the data they needed was in the data center. Now users—and the workloads they access—are more distributed. Networking and security can’t deliver a secure, extensible network by operating in silos. They need to join forces in a SaaS-consumable architecture and deliver services closer to users, in the cloud and at the edge. Join Cisco Umbrella as they discuss how you can move toward a SASE architecture.

5. Cisco Virtual Booths

Wednesday October 14 and Thursday, October 15, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. EST
In addition to these innovative speaking sessions, the Cisco virtual booth offers round-the-clock engagement with subject matter experts each day. Topics include infrastructure as code (Cisco ACI joint solutions with HashiCorp Terraform and RedHat Ansible) and the POC topic discussed above. ThousandEyes, now a part of Cisco, also has a virtual booth with feature-packed demos and presentations.
