Summer Himell has been at Cisco 25 years but has held many different careers in Sales across Cisco Systems, in Service Provider, Commercial, running a Data Center sales team, and now public sector. She leads the Sales teams for all of California Public Sector and is most passionate about connecting Cisco’s purpose with the purpose of her customers. Because of her diverse background at Cisco, she brings insight and advice on a variety of customer types and is able to quickly make the connection on Cisco and key value for customers as she seeks to employer an inclusive future for all in Public Sector in California. Summer started her career at an IPSec VPN start-up in Boulder, CO, called Compatible Systems. Compatible was acquired by Cisco in 2000 as the technology was key to enhancing Cisco’s security portfolio. Since then she has worked to improve networks and services with companies such as AT&T, Level(3), tw telecom, Rackspace and has negotiated win-win contracts for her customers. As a Data Center leader, she led the evolution to hyper-converged and cloud-delivered data center. But she is most proud of the work she does in Public Sector as she views it as improving the lives of our citizens. Summer lives in San Francisco and enjoys any activity that is outdoor as well as cooking for friends and family. Summer holds a Bachelor of the Arts in International Affairs from the University of Colorado, where her son attends today who is majoring in International Business.
