Robert Waitman

Director, Privacy Center of Excellence

Robert Waitman serves as a Director in Cisco’s Privacy Center of Excellence, where he specializes in quantifying the business benefits of privacy and helping organizations prioritize their privacy investments. He has led Cisco’s privacy research program for the past 5 years, driving the 2018-2022 Data Privacy Benchmark Studies and Consumer Privacy Reports, as well as authoring a recent privacy article in Harvard Business Review. Over his 21-year career at Cisco, he has helped many organizations improve their use of network-based applications and delivered over $100 million in improvement opportunities. He also led Cisco’s Wealth Management Consulting Practice, helping drive innovative changes at wealth management firms and gaining media attention for his research findings in The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and American Banker. Robert holds a BSE in Computer Science from Princeton University, an MBA and MS from Columbia University, and a JD from Harvard Law School. He also holds the CIPP/E, CIPP/US and CIPT certifications from IAPP, and the CISM certification from ISACA.
