Katherine Koning is a Solutions Engineer on Cisco’s Federal Scientific Team, where she combines her passion for science and innovation with advanced networking technology. With a bachelor’s degree in biomedical and electrical engineering and a master’s in neuroscience, Katherine brings a multidisciplinary perspective to solving complex problems. Over her five and a half years at Cisco, she has worked closely with federal scientific agencies to design and implement secure, high-performance networking solutions that empower cutting-edge research and discovery. Driven by a fascination with how technology can accelerate progress, Katherine is especially interested in the intersection of science and emerging technologies like machine learning and advanced hardware for hyperscale computing. She is passionate about helping organizations harness the potential of these innovations to advance scientific exploration and push the boundaries of what’s possible. When she’s not solving complex networking challenges, Katherine enjoys hiking with her dog Poppy, playing bass in jam sessions, and traveling with her partner Steven.
