José Luis Salazar Valenzuela reports directly to the Global Partner and Routes to Market Sales organization at Cisco since 2012. In his current role, he is the Global Partner Go to Market Lead for the Cisco Internet & Mass-Scale Infrastructure Optics portfolio, supporting the transition to higher network speeds with an optics strategy for hybrid work, accelerating the migration to high density 400G data center fabrics and converging the IP and optical transport onto a single layer to streamline lifecycle operations with Cisco Routed Optical Networking solutions. In his previous roles he was responsible for the cross-architecture Customer Experience global partner strategy, after leading Energy and Transportation Partner Sales globally, as well as IoT and Digital Transformation in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia.
José Luis joined Cisco in 2006 as an Enterprise Systems Engineer. For over 3 years he was the Emerging Technologies technical lead in Ireland where he was recognized for strategic wins in Physical Security and Digital Media Systems. In 2010 José Luis became a Territory Business Manager driving key customer accounts and managing a large territory, after that he became a Large Opportunities Account Manager in Ireland responsible for managing Commercial accounts with a high revenue potential.
Prior to Cisco, José Luis worked in R&D and Pre-Sales roles in the Service Provider Eircom, as well as in Ericsson Eurolab Deutschland and Nortel Networks in Germany, Sweden and Ireland in projects ranging from software development and prototyping of encryption payment algorithms to telecommunications management systems, unified communications, mobility and security.
José Luis is certified in Data Analytics by Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business. He holds an Advanced Strategic Execution Program professional certification from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a Master of Science in Engineering (M.Sc.Eng.) in Data Communications from the Departments of Electronic & Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom, where he was awarded a scholarship by the National Council on Science and Technology of Mexico to course his degree. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electronics & Communications with a Graduate Diploma in Telecommunications from the Tecnológico de Monterrey.
