Chris Shenefiel

Security Research Principal Engineer

Chris Shenefiel is a Security Research Principal Engineer. In this role, he is responsible for defining Cisco Security Research focus areas and engaging researchers to address those areas both within and outside of Cisco.

Shenefiel joined Cisco in June of 1999 after the acquisition of Amteva Technologies, where he served as manager, product management. He soon moved into Public Sector solution development where he developed collaboration and security solutions for Defense, Public Safety and Justice. In 2011, Shenefiel moved to Government security certification team and Cisco’s Secure Development Methodology

Shenefiel brings more than 20 years of high technology experience in engineering, marketing, consulting and general business management to Cisco. He served in other senior management positions with several of the world’s largest communications and wireless corporations including Motorola, Southwestern Bell, and AT&T Communications in capacities that include software design, user interface design, applied R&D, professional services, project management and product management.

Shenefiel holds a Masters of Science degree in Engineering Psychology with a concentration in Computer Science from the University of Illinois, Champaign and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with concentration in Computer Science, and Engineering, from the University of Illinois, Champaign.
