Applications are running everywhere and constantly changing. As digital transformation continues moving forward in the enterprise, leaders across industries like financial services, travel, telecommunications, and manufacturing are looking for new tools to help see, analyze, and manage their applications as they digitize their organizations.

Applications are no longer just another way to interact with customers, partners, and end users. They are the business, and every organization must deliver always-on, secure, exceptional application experiences to win in today’s experience economy. In fact, digital experience is now a primary driver of business success and “experience” is fast emerging as the new boardroom KPI.

Applications are affected by the same challenges that are driving complexity across the entire IT estate—data overload, tool sprawl, and friction between teams as they struggle to make sense of it all. Mapping the relationships between the business, applications, data, and technical architectures is becoming unmanageable.

Introducing business risk observability

Application security needs to be delivered in a way that is just as dynamic. It needs to stretch across public cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. It also needs to seamlessly work with the application workloads and tools that DevOps teams use. The ability to look at the performance of applications and understand how they create value or risk enables teams to deliver on the most important business outcomes.

A significant advancement in our applications strategy, we’re announcing this week at Cisco Live EMEA in Amsterdam the introduction of an industry-first: business risk observability. This is an enhancement of Cisco’s Full-Stack Observability application security solution.

Available now, business risk observability provides a business risk scoring solution that brings together Kenna Risk Meter score distribution and Business Transactions from Cisco AppDynamics, and also integrates with Panoptica for API security and Talos for threat intelligence.

Using Kenna’s vulnerability scoring and Cisco AppDynamics business transactions context, it allows teams to generate an application-based business risk score to help mitigate vulnerabilities on applications or services that have a high likelihood of exploitation. It is available through Cisco Secure Application, which is integrated into Cisco AppDynamics.

Cisco Full-Stack Observability at Cisco Live

With Cisco Full-Stack Observability, performance impact and experience tracing can be seen through the lens of both security vulnerabilities and network issues. This week at Cisco Live, we are spotlighting a tech preview of the Cisco Full-Stack Observability Platform, which is slated for general availability in June.

Cisco Full-Stack Observability allows teams to bring together telemetry data from their own context, and drive correlated insights across the application stack. Moreover, AI-driven root cause analysis can be viewed in any type of infrastructure and any multi-cloud configuration. Analysis is then tied to business context giving teams the ability to identify, prioritize, resolve and even predict issues before they impact the end user and business.

An example is the ability to integrate business transactions and correlate with IT signals, a differentiated capability from Cisco AppDynamics, now a foundational element of the Cisco Full-Stack Observability Platform.

In April, we’re also releasing a deeper bi-directional integration between Cisco AppDynamics and Cisco ThousandEyes, which supports Customer Digital Experience Monitoring, offering correlation of business issues across application transactions and their dependencies, end-user experiences, the network path and internet routing.

Applications are moving targets. Managing and securing them requires insights on application behavior, network intelligence, and ultimately the users and devices that interact with them. Cisco is leading the way in securing and enabling your greatest assets—applications and the experiences they empower.
