Secure Remote Access During Holidays

January 26, 2015 - 0 Comments

In many parts of the world there was a holiday period and celebration of the New Year, and it reminds me that the world has holiday periods all year round. What happens to your remote access demands during holidays? One would think that being on holiday means no one needs access to corporate resources, correct? Sometimes I really wish that were true. Sadly, that has not always been the case even for me. As an example or two, maybe you can relate to the people below or know someone like this:

Consider the executive working from home on his laptop on a high-impact acquisition during a holiday period. He needs protected access to highly sensitive financial records continually throughout the holidays but doesn’t want to get bogged down by all sorts of security stuff installed on his system to get his work done.

Think about the sales manager that is trying to close business with several customers that need to use their budget before the end of a quarter. Now, what sales manager would say, “Can we wait a few days and give you time to change your mind?” That means they need immediate and secure access to pricing and quote creation from the order system while working from their tablet and traveling with the family.

In between, the sales manager’s son decides he wants to use the tablet to play some games and surf the web. Too bad he has no idea that one of those game sites he is accessing hosts malware. Wouldn’t it be nice to make sure whatever he uses the Internet for is not through the company servers so the company does not receive the “gift” of a cyber-infection to celebrate a particular holiday?

Vacations and holidays are times to rest and relax and disconnect from your work. But the reality of today’s nonstop corporate environment doesn’t always make that possible. That often means employees require hassle-free but secure remote access to their company’s network from anywhere and at any time, while minimizing how long they spend staring at a screen. During those times is when you want the latest version of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Solution to make your remote connectivity experience secure, fast, and seamless so you can get back to your well-deserved break.
