I am incredibly excited to announce that Cisco DNA Spaces is now Cisco Spaces. Cisco Spaces is the go-to-platform that connects Cisco networking, and collaboration products (Catalyst, Meraki, Webex), aggregating data into a single cloud platform, to turn any building into a smart space. This evolution is triggered by purpose and sparked by a market inflection point that changed the way the world works.

The Market Inflection Point

The workplace, as we know it, has changed. Forever.

Across the world, there has been a complete reassessment of all things ‘space’ – how much do we have, how much do we need, how do we use it and how much do we spend on it. With the pandemic came a market inflection point where enterprises began to rethink the physical workplace and its purpose, as hybrid working practices started to take hold. As a result, enterprises are continuing to shrink their real estate footprint by 20-50% on average and reconfiguring them to make them relevant to the new reality. And this is just the beginning.

The New Reality

With the rise of hybrid work, it is becoming imperative for buildings to level up to the expectations of their various stakeholders – in essence, become safer, smarter, sustainable, and more efficient. And as you may rightly expect, the needs and motivations of each stakeholder are vastly different.

  • Employees need a purpose to go to the workplace: Enterprises now need to justify commuting to work by providing a space that is safe, an experience that is richer, and an environment that boosts productivity and fosters serendipitous connections. At its core, the physical workspace needs to provide a ‘purpose’ for employees to visit – that is in tune with the objectives of the people within it and the purpose of how they are being used.
  • Facilities teams need visibility: Decisions on resizing and reconfiguring space cannot be driven by blind experiments. Critical data points on actual real estate utilization and occupancy levels are necessary to make informed decisions. These insights can contribute to multiple business and operational outcomes, including optimization of space, improving safety and productivity, informed cleaning, energy optimization, sustainability initiatives, and improving the overall visitor experience.
  • IT teams need to make Hybrid work, work: IT teams are looking to create a global hybrid work standard across all their business locations. Achieving this at scale requires a common platform that is secure, reliable, and compliant, with proactive monitoring.

Evolution is the only way physical space can rise to meet these varied expectations of stakeholders. Simply put, spaces need to get smarter, safer, sustainable, and seamless.

Our Evolution to a Smart Spaces Cloud

Right from our launch in 2018, we’ve been on a mission to digitize physical spaces. This led to us becoming the go-to platform for indoor location services, having digitized over 7 billion square feet of enterprise space. Testament to this is the fact that we have emerged as the highest-ranked indoor location services platform on Gartner Peer Insights, for three years in a row. It has delivered value to customers across industries (Workspaces, Campuses, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Retail & Venues, etc.) and business functions (CXOs, IT, Facilities, Marketing & Loyalty, Data & Strategy teams, etc.)

The market inflection point was a pivotal moment for us. It marked our transition from indoor location services to becoming a smart spaces cloud platform that leverages all of Cisco network infrastructure and collaboration products and sensors (Catalyst, Meraki, Webex) to connect people, things, and spaces.

We are now, Cisco Spaces

It’s a new day, a new dawn for our team as we move to new brand identity. But it’s more than just a fresh coat of paint. It’s an evolution – an expansion of our platform and capabilities, to turn your buildings into smart spaces.

Cisco DNA Spaces is now Cisco Spaces

With Cisco Spaces, you now have a cloud platform that will drive safety, sustainability, and smartness in buildings with seamless people experiences.
