Only 56 percent of security alerts are investigated, and more than half of those are not remediated, according to the Cisco 2017 Annual Cybersecurity Report. Responding to these alerts is an overwhelming job, and most organizations do not have the security staff to keep up.

Companies of all sizes face the challenge of securing their public cloud environments as well as their on-premises infrastructure. Adding effective security measures for public cloud workloads—with solutions that can reduce the number of false positives—is a critical task.

However, the public cloud infrastructure differs from an on-premises infrastructure.
A public cloud undergoes a very high change rate in assets but offers fewer network monitoring capabilities. To provide effective security while reducing the number of false positives, a new approach is necessary.

Real time security intelligence and visibility

Cisco® Stealthwatch Cloud provides the actionable security intelligence and visibility necessary to identify malicious activities in real time. You can quickly respond before a security incident becomes a devastating breach. With Stealthwatch Cloud, you can detect external and internal threats across your environment, from the private network to the branch office to the public cloud.

As the need for API development continues to grow, so does the need for proper resources to enable API developers to be as successful as possible. Stealthwatch Cloud gives you access to important data, telemetry, and analytics pertaining to your cloud infrastructure. It makes perfect sense to extend those capabilities with an API!

In order to facilitate and support Stealthwatch Cloud users and developers, Cisco is proud to announce that Stealthwatch Cloud has launched on DevNet! Now, everything related to Stealthwatch Cloud APIs (all the relevant information essential for success) will be readily available and easily accessible in our “one-stop-shop” on DevNet. With the Stealthwatch Cloud launch on DevNet, we are rolling out an array of useful tools to help API developers spend less time learning APIs and more time actually using them.

Stealthwatch Cloud is joining Cisco® Stealthwatch Enterprise and the rest of the Cisco offerings by hosting the entirety of our REST API documentation on DevNet. No longer will developers be forced to search deep inside user guides and help menus to find the relevant API information they are looking for. Now, they can find all the important information they need to successfully use Cisco products in one place.

On top of API documentation, we are also launching a set of Postman collections and Python sample scripts. These will give developers a great starting point with their API development. Working examples of code can be a major advantage to developers getting started with a new API, so we’ve included an array of working examples to support our users’ success.

But that’s not all! In addition to the API documentation and sample scripts, we are also launching a Code Exchange for Stealthwatch Cloud. Now, API experts will be able to easily share useful scripts and software capabilities that leverage Stealthwatch Cloud with the rest of the DevNet community.

To round out this new community, we are expanding the Cisco Stealthwatch Forum to include Stealthwatch Cloud. API developers can use this forum to ask and answer questions related to Stealthwatch APIs. This forum will serve not only as a way to resolve any issues but also as a rich knowledge base of information from those who already have experience.
