Adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) is accelerating and Hadoop is emerging as one of the most common way of managing data for AI. We announced Cisco Data Intelligence Platform (CDIP) in June, paving the way for a tighter integration of AI/ML, Hadoop and Object Store. In September, we released two Cisco Validated Designs (CVDs) showcasing CDIP with Cloudera Enterprise Data Hub and Hortonworks Data Platform.
Today, as part of our phased launch approach, I’m happy to announce the following:

CDIP and Cloudera Data Platform
CDP Data Center is an on-premises edition of Cloudera Data Platform. This new product combines the best of Cloudera Enterprise Data Hub (EDH) and Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) Enterprise along with new features and enhancements. This unified distribution is a scalable and customizable platform where you can securely run many types of workloads.
CDP Data Center sets the foundation for CDP private cloud which offers cloud-like user experience with self-service portal where users can efficiently find, curate, and share data, enabling access to trusted data and analytics.
Our Cisco Validated Design implements CDP on Cisco UCS C240 M5 using Cisco Intersight.
CDIP with Cloudera Data Platform CVD
CDIP delivers world record performance
Cisco recently published 5 Hadoop performance world records on Cisco Data Intelligence Platform using TPCx-HS, an industry standard benchmark for Hadoop throughput with both MapReduce and Spark.
By running different scale factor workloads with Spark (1TB, 3TB and 10TB) and with MapReduce (1TB, 3TB and 10TB), we demonstrate that Cisco Data Intelligence Platform is not only a leader in performance but also scales linearly. With Hadoop, it is quite common for customers to start small and grow the same cluster to hundreds of nodes. This is only possible if the underlying architecture, both infrastructure and software, is linearly scaling which CDIP excels at.
CDIP & Object Storage – MinIO
MinIO’s object storage solution augments Cisco’s Data Intelligence Platform architecture by providing exceptional throughput and scale, effectively creating a second tier of warm data to complement the Hadoop tier. With MinIO object storage, on-premises enterprise customers can create highly performant, cost-effective solutions to support a variety of AI/ML workloads and use cases.

Cisco Intersight & Big Data
Cisco Intersight is a Software-as-a-Service infrastructure management tool that provides a single pane of glass management of CDIP infrastructure in the data center. Cisco Intersight scales easily, and frequent updates are implemented without impact.
Cisco Intersight brings Connected TAC, Security Advisories, and other capabilities to our CDIP customers. CDIP with Cloudera Data Platform can be fully deployed with Cisco Intersight. The CVD referenced above showcases how to deploy Cloudera Data Platform on CDIP using Cisco Intersight.
