The beach. An airport. The car. What do these places have in common? They’re all places you can hold a meeting.
As workforces become increasingly mobile, WebEx is the tool that more and more customers (and partners) use to ensure that productivity doesn’t decrease just because you’re not at the office.

My daughter is 12 and thinks Black Friday is actually a holiday that follows Thanksgiving. The media has effectively gotten into her brain and she doesn’t even know why she wants to go shopping, but she knows she must. I keep telling her she doesn’t need a $50 VCR but she just doesn’t get it. I suppose I will take her and a friend to the mall and leave them there. There’s no way I am entering the abyss.
Then I will go home and do some real shopping.
My sister-in-law and I team up every year to work out who’s getting what for whom to make sure we get things people will like and to eliminate redundancies. Since I happen to be a big WebEx champion, we do it online.
I know that makes me sound a little geeky, and maybe I am, but it’s so fun to surf the internet together and look at the same things at the same time. She had ideas, I have ideas. Sometimes we are sharing and often we are both finding things and then passing the ball back and forth to see each other’s discoveries.
While we shop, she can stop and talk to her toddler, we can both grab snacks and, maybe most importantly, we aren’t losing our minds in the crush of the crowd. It works well for us and I can imagine Read More »
When I told my daughter that her gramma was going to be with her other (younger) grandchild this year for Halloween, I did not expect her reaction. She’s 12 and has had gramma with her every year since birth and I figured she knew she would eventually have to share.
But that was not my kid’s idea. She was downright pissed!
“She needs to see me in my costume! It’s tradition!” she told me. Oops. Apparently we have a tradition that I just took for granted all these years.
But then I suggested we have a little fun and get to share the holiday with her cousin as well. We could do a WebEx, show my mom my daughter’s costume and see our little three year old firefighter in his outfit. “I guess that’ll work,” she conceded. And off we went. We did a test drive on Sunday.
We fired up the WebEx, turned on the webcams and the kids had a ball. Everyone get to see each other, there was lots of conversation and excitement and gramma Read More »
This week, CNN Money is running a series of articles on Cybercrime and the Cybercrime Economy. They offer a series of interesting tips and strategies to protect your business. As I was reading the articles, it reminded me that we are often asked about the safety of WebEx meetings.
WebEx meetings operate with Cisco Security.
This is a very important part of the WebEx solution. With so many “free” web conferencing solutions available today, it’s easy to fall into a commodity mentality when choosing an online solution. But the reality is, free doesn’t always mean secure.
If you are using video conferencing, chances are you are doing business and sharing information that you would not want someone else to hear (unless that was your intention). This is also true for vendors, contractors and consultants who typically have a legal obligation Read More »
Ever wondered who’s on a WebEx? Here’s a look at global activity that’s refreshed every few minutes.
Click in and take a look. You will see the host’s location and how many people are participating in the meeting. Some people are even in a one-person meeting, which I imagine means they are recording content to share with others or post on their website.
WebEx Makes the World a Little Smaller
What I find amazing is how many people are video conferencing from very remote locations -- really shows the power of the Internet and how it allows for collaboration no matter where you are!
If you use WebEx, you can see the power of the WebEx network. If you are hosting a WebEx event or have a recorded WebEx posted that’s public, let us know. Send us a tweet @WebExEvents and we’ll retweet your information to our network.
