#CiscoChat Continues the “Be Fearless” Conversation

Last month, more than 100 dynamic women engaged in one of the most inspirational and personal interactive dialogues we’ve seen on what empowers women to “Be Fearless” in the workplace. Led by Women of Impact, Cisco’s inaugural #CiscoChat connected women who shared their thoughts on taking risks and overcoming fear in pursuit of their professional dreams.

As I recapped this inaugural #CiscoChat, I touched on childhood “monsters under the bed” fears giving way to ones that keep women from being brave and bold in the workplace. Even once we learned there were no monsters waiting for us, unconsciously, something – perhaps a movie or teasing from a sibling – rekindled that fear. And the process for conquering it began all over again. So is it difficult to believe that sometimes, nagging fears can creep back into our thoughts and dissuade us from living lives of professional and personal pursuits?

#CiscoChat Ignites “Spark” in Collaboration Conversation at SXSW

The Cisco social media marketing team was on the ground in Austin for the SXSW Interactive Conference and the second ever #CiscoChat. The team engaged with participants onsite and over social media, teeing up an announcement around our new collaboration service–Cisco Spark–by asking participants how they collaborate with coworkers on the go.

We also had several influencers join us onsite, including former Mashable co-editor and CAPTIOLOGY author Ben Parr. Always keeping a finger on the pulse of new platforms and trends, Ben answered questions with us live and streamed the event on Meerkat to nearly 100 attendees.

Throughout the day, we saw hundreds of mentions of #CiscoChat, which went trending on Twitter in Austin!

Be Fearless #CiscoChat Opens Dialogue on Fear, Failures and Triumphs for Women in the Workplace

Whether you’re four or forty, fear is an emotion that we have all experienced. But as we grow older, childhood frights like the monsters we’re convinced live under our beds give way to more ‘adult’ fears that keep us from taking risks, seeking adventure and pursuing our goals and dreams.

As women continue to explore and define what it personally means to ‘Lean In’ and seek inspiration for conquering fears and achieving goals, Cisco’s Women of Impact team used an interactive (and inspiring) #CiscoChat to explore what empowers women to ‘Be Fearless.’

Led by myself for the Cisco’s Women of Impact conference, Catalina Kowal from Cisco’s Empowered Women’s Network, Cindy Cooley & Chris Herl from Cisco’s Men for Inclusion, over 100 women engaged in the real-time ‘Be Fearless’ #CiscoChat, connecting and sharing ideas on living a life full of passionate pursuits in the absence of fear. Bridging the Gap Between Social Media and Hashtags With a New Social Chat Program #CiscoChat

Social chats are not new. What we’re doing differently is creating a regularly scheduled program that is platform-agnostic, and leverages a single hashtag to enable discussions over Twitter, Google+ Hangouts on Air, podcasts and more. Our new #CiscoChat program not only unites customers, partners and influencers together to discuss technology and business trend topics in real time, but it enables our audience to continue the conversation with Cisco and the social media community, even after a social chat event ends.

What You Can Expect:
#CiscoChat events will take place live on Twitter and Google+ Hangout On Air, and will feature Cisco spokespeople, thought leaders, technical experts, analysts, partners, Cisco Champions and customers from around the world. Topics will range from collaboration disruption to women in STEM to security implications for the Internet of Everything and more.
