Once your organization has made the decision to move into the cloud what are the next steps? Making the decision can turn out to be the easy part, but turning your strategy and vision into reality can become a daunting task if you are not prepared. Purchasing a new SaaS application can be as simple as entering your credit card information and clicking on download. Delivering applications to your users from the Cloud poses a different set of challenges.
In my last blog post I talked about some of the key considerations you should make when moving workloads into the cloud. This month I am preparing for a webinar hosted by Cisco CSR1000V technical marketing engineers that will do a deep technical dive into each of those considerations with the goal of helping you to prepare for your migration. Some of the technical aspects we will discuss include how to handle IP addressing, security policies, redundancy for disaster recovery and much more. We will also go over a customer use case so you can learn from your peers.
Whether you are extending your network to the Cloud, enabling your branch users to access Cloud resources without traversing your core network or securing access to cloud resources for mobile users we will dive into the details. Please use the registration link below to attend.

Cisco Cloud Services Router 1000V was recently featured in our interview segment:
My company Cloudamour has migrated over 500 companies to the Cloud and our experience has shown that one of the most important things to consider when considering a move to the cloud is getting the buy-in and approval of not only the key stakeholders but also the key workers.
We have experienced occasions whereby the IT team have underwritten the solution from a technical and functional perspective but the end users were never consulted and when the transition happens there are avoidable complications.
My advice is that the Cloud is 100% the way forward but you need to approach it holistically i.e. not from just an operational perspective but also a culture one.
Looking forward to your presentation.
Agree that you need buy in from the key stakeholders especially the end users since moving applications to the cloud can impact end user experience.
Preparation is always key but having a flexible platform to optimize application performance across all domains can help you as you scale. In the webinar we will cover some of the features that can help to mitigate problems as you migrate to the cloud and as you scale.
At MintTwist, we took the decision to move the whole business back office into the cloud in late 2012.
First off we tackled the email infrastructure which, although time consuming and a little painful, proved to be a big success once it was migrated.
Also on the list were Accounting, File Storage, Project Tracking, CRM, Collaboration Workspaces and Time Tracking,
Do you have a set roll out plan that you advise people should consider, or is it always on a case by case basis?
Alexis, congratulations on a successful migration!
Talking to our customers there doesn’t appear to be a set roll out plan that they are following when they migrate. The size or your organization and the types of applications and data you want to move will dictate how and when you can migrate. If you are moving applications that your customers and partners are using that can introduce additional complexity.
If you enlist the help of a services company like a partner or Cisco Services then you can leverage their experience and experitize.
Since every organization is different people are learning best practices from each other. In this webinar we want to educate you on the pain points to reduce your risk and anticpate any problems.
Good article
Why this punk spit out senseless allegation against NSA and Cisco? He should be hanged. We trust NSA, we trust Cisco and there is no backdoor in any Cisco’s products. It is absolutely safe!
Even NSA steal out stuff, we are fine with that!
Thank you for your awesome article!
This is a very interesting article. I really enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing it with us.
