I am so glad that Todd is next up in our Why I Love Big Data Partner Series, because he is definitely excited about the potential ways Big Data unlocks the value of IoE. Please come by CiscoLive and see Cisco, Cloudera, and Tableau use data-driven, predictive insights to help medical teams improve quality of care and healthcare outcomes.

Todd Talkington has been in the software industry for 15 years and at Tableau for He has had a focus on building out solutions that help Tableau customers see and understand their data, through Tableau Technology Partners.

As technical partner manager for Tableau, I am having so much fun doing my job.   Why?  Because we are right in the middle of the big data craze.  People are finding amazing ways to use all of the information.  I had to buy a new refrigerator this weekend, which was bad.  I was amazed that the manufacturer can now connect to my fridge when it breaks down and run diagnostics.  Ford Motor has been testing cars that are sending back 250 gig of sensor data back to Ford…..PER HOUR!

Yes, things are changing quickly.  This year I  wrote about the top 7 Trends in Big Data.  One of the top predictions we made was that the traditional ecosystem would change.  Technologies like Cisco Data Integration are allowing customers to bring data into one place, so they can better get to the needed data.   Hadoop has become the new normal in the datacenter for storage.  Other technologies to allow us to more easily clean and transform the data.   It is amazing how the ecosystem has changed in just a few short years.

So the real question is what comes next?   As Jim McHugh mentions in his blog, $7.3T is the estimated share of analytics within the 19T of opportunity over the next 10 years.  Sensors are now in cars, planes engines, appliances, smart phones, smart watches, clock radios, air conditioning systems, home security systems.  And the list goes on and on.  It seems that every aspect of our lives will somehow be connected.   Huge amounts of data being brought back to help us understand how we can do things better.

Whatever comes next, Tableau will continue to focus on it’s mission statement which is to help people see and understand their data. At Cisco Live, we are showing a demo which includes Cisco, Tableau, and Cloudera. Solutions like this demonstrate how working together with our technology partners, like Cisco, Tableau will help our customer find their share of that $7.3T! As a part of that discovery, you can also find us at the Hadoop Summit in San Jose. If you happen to be there too, please come by.
