Being first definitely feels good! Once again our Cisco UCS compute family showcases its leadership capabilities with two new TPCx-HS benchmarks. Cisco was the first vendor to publish TPCx-HS (The industry’s first Big Data benchmark standard for Hadoop) results in 2015 and we continue this leadership trend today with more top tier results.

Our new results leveraging the architectural, scalability, and performance superiority of Cisco UCS was accomplished with our strategic partner IBM and their BigInsights software solution. The joint offering brings together Cisco UCS and IBM’s industry compatible Open Platform with Apache Hadoop. We will be  highlighting this work at Cisco Live this week in Las Vegas. IBM is a Platinum sponsor at the show – they are in booth #1536 – stop on by and feel the speed!

Working together on performance testing and tuning, Cisco & IBM Engineering teams have created this robust and high performing enterprise ready solution. So, today we are pleased to announce the Industry’s best TPCx-HS (Industry standard for benchmarking big data systems) performance at 30TB and 100TB with Cisco UCS and IBM’s Open Platform with Apache Hadoop 4.1. Here are the results:

As is our norm, a Cisco Validated Design (CVD) for this joint architecture will be publicly available in about a week on our Big Data Design Zone site. Our Cisco Validated Designs for Big Data consist of systems and solutions that have been designed, tested, and documented to facilitate faster, more reliable and predictable customer deployments, that significantly lower the cost of ownership – and they are free!

Raghu Nambiar, a Cisco Distinguished Engineer and Lead for our Data Center Big Data offerings is participating in a Cisco Live panel Monday afternoon at 4:00PM –  “Big Data and Analytics Architecture: From the IoT Edge to Core”. Feel free to check it out – it will dive deeper into the topic of Data Center Big Data architectural considerations.
