Mathew Varghese is the “Chief Technology Officer” at Cisco Systems, Asia Pacific, Japan & China supporting the Financial Services Industry vertical. He has a secondary role as “CTO for Cisco Investments and M&A, APJC”. In his primary role, he is responsible for leading consulting engagements with Financial Services firms who are seeking advisory support to transform their business.
Mathew is seen as a trusted advisor by these customer’s as he helps them develop and execute a technology blueprint, leveraging Cisco’s technology innovations mapping to their business transformation objectives.
He is an alumnus of Columbia Business School where he graduated from the “Global Banking Program” specializing in Fintech, Digital & Analytics.
He is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s - Digital & Social Strategy Executive Program & the National University of Singapore’s “Fintech for Business Executive Program”.
Aside of his engineering background, Mathew has an MBA from the Rutgers Business School, USA.
Mathew is seen as a thought leader on the application of technology in financial services to deliver continuous digital value. His speaking engagements extend from industry hosted events to Cisco hosted events and Cisco customer executive briefings.
His contribution to the community extends as a guest lecturer in a few universities around Asia Pacific. He is also an industry advisor to one of the leading Business Schools in the Asia Pacific region - Rutgers Business School.
Mathew is also an active member of many industry bodies including the Business Architecture Guild, Singapore Blockchain Association, ANSI, SUERF, Global Fintech Organization to quote a few.
Mathew is also a “COPC certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt for Customer Experience” with focus on Customer Journey Mapping & Design Thinking”.
Mathew is a teacher, influencer and uses these strengths to coach and mentor fellow Cisco’ites & start-ups.
Prior to joining Cisco, Mathew has held a variety of roles in the Information Technology industry with IBM & HP across different geographies.
