David K. Bell
David is an accomplished industry professional having established and managed complex IT infrastructure projects from conception through to completion. He started his career as a network trouble-shooter for the Finance industry, working with legacy TDM and X.25 networks before moving into the IP world. Having acquired the technical skills necessary in this high pressure environment, David then progressed to managing teams of engineers responsible for the design and implementation of secure networks for financial environments. This culminated in a project management role responsible for the provision of a global IP network infrastructure to support the delivery of live broadcast audio and video. Looking for a new challenge, David applied his technical skills to the sales world and joined Cisco in 2007 as a pre-sales engineer. He worked with a variety of end customers in the Finance, Professional Services, Manufacturing and Utilities industries, helping support and realise their network transformation aspirations. Having graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, David developed an interest in the unique industrial networking challenges faced by the Manufacturing and Utilities industries and this interest expanded to include similar challenges faced by other businesses with industrial networking requirements such as Mining and Transportation. David now works in a global consultancy role working closely with customers to deliver innovative industrial networking solutions. He is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and regularly speaks at industry events.
