At Cisco, we are all about connecting the unconnected, and making new things possible every day. And since we all could use a moment of fun and levity these days, it was so thrilling for me to see Cisco Webex play a key role in bringing golf legends Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson and NFL greats Tom Brady and Peyton Manning all together for the first time ever last week to celebrate and announce The Match: Champions for Charity. The event, which will be held on May 24, 2020 at Medalist Golf Club in Florida, will pit Woods and Manning against Mickelson and Brady in a two-on-two format that will raise money for COVID-19-related philanthropic organizations.

And in even bigger news, Cisco is playing a key role as an official sponsor of The Match. As you can imagine, pulling this event together in the current climate is no small feat, and we’re thrilled to help keep the players and event organizers connected along the way via Webex Meetings. You may have already seen the official kick-off to The Match, as Webex brought together Tiger, Phil, Tom and Peyton to get things started last week:

The Match will be broadcast live on TNT and via Bleacher Report, while Webex’s simple One Button To Join feature will allow remote special guests such as celebrities, professional golfers, reporters, business leaders and more to join from any device to provide commentary and make donations to the relief organizations.

With the sports world currently on hiatus, millions of viewers are expected to tune in for The Match, offering an incredible opportunity to showcase Webex Meetings’ powerful audio and video quality and the Cisco brand to a wide and diverse audience. This exciting opportunity builds on the work we’ve been doing over the past month to leverage our partnerships with athletes and organizations across the sports and entertainment landscape, and bring increased visibility to our technology and solutions.

It also allows us to shine a light on all of the important work that Cisco is doing throughout this crisis, including a commitment of $225 million in cash, in-kind, and planned-giving to support both the global and local response to COVID-19. Around the world, our incredible employees are working tirelessly not only to give back to those on the front lines fighting this pandemic, but also to keep our customers and partners connected and secure during this time.

I hope that you are as excited and proud as I am of Cisco’s involvement in what will undoubtedly be an incredible event. Webex is here to prove that distance will not hinder us from coming together to support a fantastic cause. Please be sure to tune in to TNT on Sunday, May 24 to watch The Match, and see our technology live in action throughout the broadcast.

Please be assured that the health and safety of everyone involved with The Match is the absolute top priority, and as such, all athletes and support staff on-site will be following social distancing guidelines during the event.
