Today Cisco announces a collaboration that will help provide High-Frequency Traders with improved transactional reporting for better insight into trading performance.  Trading firms will now be able to benefit from the new Cisco Exablaze combined solution with Pico, a leader in performance monitoring and analytics systems. Pico’s Corvil appliances perform packet capture and analytics for the financial services industry primarily in electronic trading. By combining forces, the companies bring together Cisco’s Nexus 3550 layer 1 tapping, high-precision timestamping and aggregation capabilities, and Pico’s high-performance capture and analytics systems.

Matt Grosvenor, Principal Engineer, Data Center Networking for Cisco, says, “It’s exciting the Nexus 3550-F Fusion HPT is now available to Corvil’s global trading community as part of their packet capture and trade analytics. This gives trading firms another powerful tool and allows them to have greater insight into trading patterns and performance.”

Ken Jinks, Director of Product Management at Pico, adds, “Accurate timestamps are a fundamental requirement to building trust and creating transparency in the electronic trading industry. Through Cisco and Pico’s partnership, both real-time transparency and a forensic, historical record of all the transactions and their outcomes in complex trading environments will now be available. This enables our stakeholders to make better decisions through factual and precise data.”

Starting from Release 9.5, Corvil appliances will natively support the Nexus 3550-F Fusion HPT packet trailer format designed for trading companies and exchanges. Corvil clients will benefit from the high-precision timestamping, tapping, port marking, and traffic-steering capabilities of the Nexus 3550-F HPT switch. Meanwhile, users of the 3550-F HPT switch will be able to use Pico’s high-performance analytics to satisfy infrastructure and business team analytics and decision-making needs. This collaboration addresses the growing intelligence needs within financial services.

In 2020, Cisco completed the acquisition of Exablaze to meet the increasing demand for mission critical high-frequency trading (HFT) network applications. Exablaze integrates market-leading ultra-low latency switches and smart network interface cards with Cisco’s next generation Nexus data center switching platform.
