Dr. Maghsoodlou is the Director of Energy Solutions at Cisco’s Connected Energy Networks practice. He plays a key role in shaping and implementing Cisco’s strategy for the energy vertical and for successful execution of that strategy in the design, development, and delivery of innovative and transformational solutions.
He has over 28 years of experience in energy and IT industry. He has deep knowledge of smart grid and green power applications, including advanced control center applications for grid monitoring and control, integration of distributed energy resources, wholesale and retail energy market operations, quantitative risk management, enterprise software development, and enterprise application integration. He has worked extensively with utilities in different capacities, e.g. as a technology provider for control center applications, and as a trusted advisor for strategic technology investment and planning.
Prior to Cisco Faramarz worked at ABB, Sun Microsystems, KEMA, and OATI.
Faramarz received his PhD in Systems Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1983, with specialization in dynamic security analysis of power systems. He holds a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering with focus on multi-objective planning and optimization, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on power system and control. He is a member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society.
