Unified Call Control: CUCM + VCS

March 29, 2012 - 1 Comment

Changes in the way we work are creating new challenges in business communications and collaboration. With the growing trend of a more dispersed workforce, organizations are looking to video technologies such as telepresence as the new standard for effective collaboration. To be productive, employees need to have access to the same communication services on any type of device, but organizations are finding it is not easy to deploy video for mobile workers.

Cisco’s call control solution brings together Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Cisco UCM) and Cisco Video Communications Server (Cisco VCS) to offer the same suite of feature-rich communication services regardless of device and location. With Cisco UCM and Cisco VCS, customers can easily collaborate using different devices, from anywhere, and with users within and outside of their organization.  The unified communications experience accelerates productivity across the mix of mobile and office and home-based workers.

Cisco is also leading the way in providing organizations with flexibility around how they integrate Cisco UCM with the Cisco VCS appliances.  Customers now have the option to deploy Cisco VCS Virtualized Applications on the same Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) as the Cisco UCM, reducing costs and deployment complexity.

Cisco’s call control capabilities enable new collaboration and communication experiences for our customers, delivering our commitment to connecting users, anywhere, via any device, at any time.

  1. Hi,
It is really exciting to know that it is now possible to deploy VCS and CUCM on the same host. But i wonder if it is already supported on CUCM 8.6 and VCS 7.X.

Is it already supported to deploy other applications like TMS on the same host toghether with VCS and CUCM? If not, is it in the roadmap? If not, will be the features that the TMS have moved into CUCM?

Definetely these changes will help to increase collaboration and video usage, but Cisco has to be faster to share this kind of information (technical considerations like my questions above) to Cisco SEs and partners in order to position itself as the best versus other vendors and gain more terrain.
