Transforming the Way People Collaborate with Video

October 16, 2012 - 0 Comments

Today at the Cisco Collaboration Summit 2012 in Los Angeles, Cisco unveiled a number of new collaboration solutions, including some very exciting updates to our Cisco TelePresence portfolio expanding opportunities for organizations to create an immersive, in-person experience.

In this global economy, organizations are more dispersed than ever. Yet at the same time business executives consider in-person collaboration an imperative. I’ve talked about how telepresence and video have moved far beyond a boardroom phenomenon as organizations are realizing that the use of rich video communication has the power to transform the way we collaborate.

With the growing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend employees are constantly connected, making it critical for companies to meet the needs of the mobile workplace. Additionally, the flexibility that cloud as a delivery model brings makes it easier than ever for telepresence capabilities to be delivered to anyone at any time.

Today we are excited to announce that Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution is now integrated with Cisco TelePresence Exchange System, providing more options for partners to deliver cloud solutions for telepresence as a service as part of a larger collaboration service portfolio.  These enhancements enable more partners to offer end users the power to connect multiple locations at the same time in a feature-rich as-a-service model delivered from the cloud.   Partners can offer hosted video calling and rendezvous conferencing or personal multiparty bridge that makes it even easier to collaborate via telepresence with colleagues, customers and partners at any time.

This announcement reinforces our vision to provide customers with a plethora of choices for telepresence and video deployment models as we understand a “one size fits all” approach doesn’t work. With our interoperable and open architecture approach, customers can match which offering works best with their specific needs or requirements, whether via public, private or hybrid cloud models, using our technology or other third-party solutions.
