Mobile Business: Green in Many Ways!

- April 22, 2009 - 1 Comment

The rapid growth in mobile broadband traffic has made the mobile industry “green” in more ways than one! The pace of innovation and the rapid enhancements to the consumer experience are dizzying. But on Earth Day, I think it’s important that we also recognize Mobility’s contribution to protecting the environment. Thanks to mobile technologies, more people than ever are able to connect in environmentally sensitive ways. Mobile technologies enable rapid broadband network deployments that require little construction or environmental disruption. And those networks enable business and consumer interactions that formerly would have required extensive travel and significant greenhouse gas emissions.

Further, mobile operators are leading the telecommunications industry in environmentally responsible business practices. From solar-powered radio towers to handset recycling to longer-lasting batteries that will benefit multiple industries, mobile operators are building operations that will not only reduce expenses, but reduce waste and pollution, as well. And on the technology side, 4G solutions like LTE and WiMAX are impressively increasing bit efficiencies so that we can do more over the air than ever before! Clearly, mobile operators are leading the way! And more and more service providers are finding out that being green is good for the Earth, and for business!

  1. Great little post! You only have to look at the number of mobile phone recycling companies such as Envirofone & Mazuma Mobile to see that the mobile operators and associates are leading the way when it comes to joining the 'green revolution'. Hopefully, more industries will take note!
