A Customer’s Perspective On Cloud

March 20, 2012 - 0 Comments

It has been three months since we launched the most complete end-to-end cloud solution in the industry with Cisco CloudVerse, and so far it has been a huge success. The data center has finally been unified, and now it is connected to the intelligent network to deliver applications and services anywhere, and at any time.

2012 marks the beginning of an explosion in cloud traffic. Cloud services, combined with the shift towards mobile consumption and bring-your-own-device (BYOD), are driving IP traffic at an unprecedented rate. Just look at these statistics from Cisco’s Global Cloud Index:

  • Global cloud IP traffic will increase twelvefold over the next 5 years. Overall, cloud IP traffic will grow at a CAGR of 66 percent from 2010 to 2015
  • By 2015, more than one-third of all data center traffic will be based in the cloud
  • Annual global cloud IP traffic will reach 1.6 zettabytes by the end of 2015. In 2015, global cloud IP traffic will reach 133 exabytes per month

At the announcement of CloudVerse back in December, we wanted to demonstrate how cloud is reshaping the way businesses think about IT, so we invited two service providers and two enterprise customers to participate in a live Q&A about the importance and future of cloud. Needless to say, they had some pretty surprising and informative things to say on the subject.
