Meet Eric Debray: France’s Blogging Superstar

July 30, 2012 - 0 Comments

With over 450 blog posts under his belt, Eric established himself as a thought leader in France for Data Center by using an innovative and customer-focused blogging strategy to draw people’s attention.

“Eric is quite a charismatic guy who’s always willing to help others. He’s a real evangelist of social media for France and even the entire EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region now.”

Many who are familiar with Eric’s Data Center (DC) Blog would agree with the above quote as said by Brian McPartlin, Digital Marketing Manager for Cisco France. This blog, on which he writes 3 to 4 times per week, has become the most visible amongst all blogs in EMEA and has driven increased traffic to various other Cisco France Blogs. In January 2012, the DC Blog reached the 100,000 visits mark since its inception in August 2010. Due to Eric’s continuous effort and the enormous body of content he published over the past couple years, the Cisco France DC Blog is now the best referenced blog for DC in France on all major search engines.

Eric, who heads France’s Business Development sector as the country’s DC Alliance Manager, has become a recognized voice for DC in EMEA through his blog-writing on this platform, and the visibility he gives Cisco as a result is priceless.

What particularly stands out about Eric’s posts on this blog?

Eric’s Blog has Wide Appeal and a Large Local Footprint

First of all, the content appeals to the widest possible audience with information in real-time. His posts are a great mix of technical as well as general interest articles and news regarding Data Center.

Eric noticed that video was a great way to engage with Cisco clients on his blog. Thereafter, he worked to include customer feedback into his video blog content by inviting clients to record short videos about their experience using Cisco DC technology and products. In this way, his audience could hear the benefits of using Cisco solutions and products directly from other customers.

Eric often receives requests from colleagues and clients who are interested in using his blog posts on other sites, blogs, in the press and in partner and client newsletters. Some of his articles have even helped Sales teams win calls for tender! As you can see, the potential of his work has gone beyond just simple blogging—it has truly enhanced Cisco’s business for both internal and external groups.

Future Outlook for Eric’s Social Activities

What initiative does Eric have planned for the future? Since it has often been a challenge to get subject matter experts on board with blogging as Eric has done, he and his team are looking to localize relevant Data Center blog articles across European regions in Cisco so that other countries can leverage the valuable content that Eric creates. Let’s cheer Eric on as he continues to evangelize social media internally and help others understand the value of using social content for their work!
