Cisco Hosts The 2011 Social Media Summit

Dates: Wednesday, March 4th through Friday the 6th

Get ready for the Ragan Communications Social Media Summit hosted at Cisco HQ in San Jose, CA. Over the next 3 days, we’ll be hearing about the latest trends, techniques and best practices for both internal and external communications via social media. We’ll keep the Cisco Social Media blog updated throughout the summit with recaps of each day’s presentations, and hopefully some video interviews with some of the speakers. Follow @CiscoSocial or search the hashtag #RaganCisco to hear updates throughout the summit.

The Keynote Speakers:

  • Carlos Dominguez, Senior Vice President at Cisco Systems (@carlosdominguez)
  • Jeremiah Owyang, Partner at Altimeter Group (@jowyang)
  • Brian Solis, Principal at Altimeter Group (@BrianSolis)

Carlos Dominguez is a Senior Vice President in Cisco’s Office of the Chairman of the Board and CEO and a technology evangelist, speaking to and motivating audiences worldwide about how technology is changing how we communicate, collaborate, and especially how we work.

Over the few years, since leaving Forrester Research to join Alterimeter group as a partner, Jeremiah has introduced us to some of the most innovative and useful strategies for calculating metrics, and ROI of social media while aligning with key business objectives. Some of my favorite studies by the Altimeter Group include Social Marketing Analytics, The Social Media ROI Pyramid, and Career Path of the Corporate Social Strategist. I’m very interested to see what he has to say today, and will try to capture a few talking points after he speaks.

Brian Solis has brought many of my favorite infographics over the past 3 years, including the now infamous Conversation Prism.

In addition to the heavy-hitters, some of the other speakers include representatives from: Facebook, SAP, Pay Pal, Yahoo!, American Express, Adobe, Cisco.

Last year the summit broke into two tracks with presentations about B2B and B2C social media.  This year, the two tracks will focus on internal and external communications tracks.

I’m looking forward to this years Summit, and hearing all the chatter on Twitter. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #RaganCisco. You can also DM me, @CharlieAtCisco for additional questions or if you would like to tweetup at the event.

In an effort to keep conversations fresh, Cisco Blogs closes comments after 60 days. Please visit the Cisco Blogs hub page for the latest content.

  1. how would i be able to get into that summit? it seems very informative and helpful. I know it already passed, but i’m sure there will be another one next year.

any advice on how to become one of the attendees would be greatly appreciated.

  2. That looks like a fascinating event. I look forward to a post about its takeaways. Thanks for posting the links to Jeremiah’s posts. As an aspiring social media strategist, it shines light on stuff I must know and shows a way to communicate it to business decision makers. The prism is really cool too!
