Say What? Clear Communication Is Key to Small Business Success

New and updated Cisco voice products simplify communication, improve productivity

Communication: It’s critical to any small business. Your employees need to be able to communicate effectively and clearly with customers and partners as well as with each other. But with employees often away from their desks or working in dynamic office arrangements, communication has gotten more complicated and that can impact their productivity.

Cisco recently expanded and updated its IP voice and UC solutions with features and functionality that simplify small business voice communications and improve employee productivity. New products include SPA512G and SPA514G IP phones, SPA112 and SPA122 Analog Telephone Adapters, and Wireless-N Bridge for Phone Adapters as well as an updated version of the Cisco UC320W unified communications solution.

IP Phones

The SPA512 and SPA514 are updated versions of the SPA502 and SPA504 IP phones. Providing a single line or four lines, the SPA512 and SPA514, respectively, are ideal for the small business office employee who needs simple yet reliable communication. In addition to delivering high-definition voice for enhanced clarity and speaker quality, these IP phones now include an integrated two-port Gigabit Ethernet switch, allowing full high-speed network connectivity for computers at the desktop with fewer wires. And dynamic soft keys, four-way navigation keys, and dedicated feature buttons improve ease of use and productivity.

Unified Communications System

Cisco UC320W has been updated with new features to better meet the needs of small business customers. The UC system now supports up to 24 analog and IP phones (twice as many as before), allowing it to easily grow with your company. The UC320W solution also provides auto-attendant and voicemail functionality as well as an integrated wireless-N access point and a 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with a WAN port for connecting devices to each other and to the Internet.

Analog Telephone Adapters

The SPA112 and SPA122 replace the PAP2T and SPA2102 telephone adapters, respectively. The new analog telephone adapters (ATAs) allow businesses to deploy voice over IP (VoIP) while preserving their current investment in analog phones and fax machines. While maintaining compatibility with the adapters they replace, the SPA112 and SPA122 offer improvements to existing features, such as improved fax reliability at faster speeds, and provide new features for ease of setup and deployment.

[subhead] Wireless-N Bridge

The new Wireless-N Bridge for Phone Adapters allows you to convert wired Cisco SPA300 and SPA500 Series IP Phones and ATAs to wireless devices. Often called a SPA Bridge, the Wireless-N Bridge makes it easy to add new extensions or move phones between offices, conference rooms, lobbies, or other environments without the hassle and expense of network wiring. The device is perfect for setting up a temporary office space, or for adding a phone in places that are hard to reach or too difficult or expensive to wire. In addition, the device can allow you to maximize your investment in a high-end phone by allowing you to move it among different conference room.

The SPA Bridge provides wireless encryption and quality-of-service (QoS) features to protect and prioritize your connection for crystal clear voice communication. In addition, the device fits inside the SPA phone and combines power and a built-in Ethernet cable, which helps to eliminate desk clutter and reduce wiring.

With these new and updated products, it’s even easier to bring IP telephony into your business, allowing your employees to collaborate and communicate effectively and improve productivity while keeping costs down.
