Making the Team: How VARsity Players use OnPlus to Score

February 27, 2012 - 0 Comments

We’ve seen many trends during the past year start to take hold in the market, with a significant number of value added resellers (VARs) implementing new technologies to better help and service customers. Notably, VARs are placing a strong focus around managed services offerings specific to network administration, virtualization and cloud computing.

As announced in December, Cisco’s OnPlus Service is a VAR-specific offering that helps minimize support costs and generate additional revenue while proactively managing customer network problems. With OnPlus, VARs can create or expand their managed service portfolio by providing remote visibility of a small business customer’s network, and the corresponding devices, regardless of location, through a scalable cloud-based service.

Since its debut last year, we’ve received great feedback about OnPlus from press, analysts and VARs alike. VARs, in particular, are quickly realizing the benefits of OnPlus. According to Len DiCostanzo, senior vice-president of community and business development for Autotask, an industry leading provider of hosted IT business management software, integrating Autotask Pro software with OnPlus adds “clear value for our clients, and creates a new range of services they can offer to their SMB customers.” At no additional charge, the integration seamlessly converts OnPlus network and device alerts into Autotask service tickets and assigns them to the appropriate internal resource for resolution, according to customizable workflow rules, service level agreement levels and contract terms. Autotask’s creative integration with OnPlus helps partners provide better service to small businesses, while eliminating the burden of IT management for these resource-constricted customers.

Are you a VAR that’s providing Cisco’s OnPlus Service to you small business customers? If so, we’d love to hear about your experience with the service and your customer’s feedback.
