- December 20, 2011 - 0 Comments

As 2011 comes to a close, what do you think 2012 will bring? We predict it will be the Year of the Cloud!

In this last episode of Partner Update for 2011, Andrew attempts to communicate with the entire CloudVerse, until he learns what it actually is (a set of cloud capabilities that helps our partners build public, private, and hybrid clouds for customers).

What else made the news over the past couple of weeks? We crowned two partners winners of the 25 Words contest for their witty entries, look closely at how Cisco partners are helping to build a fast and secure network to help customer Doss Aviation power fighter jets, learn best practices around Smart Care Services and building better customer relationships, find out how OnPlus can help partners diagnose and fix network issues from virtually anywhere on any device, a services cheat sheet to help build relationships and increase profits, and more.

Tune in and watch our latest newscast covering the top Cisco partner headlines, as always, in under 5 minutes.

Keep reading for links to the top headlines, time stamps so you can find each news item within the video, and more details on each of the stories we covered.

The world of many clouds: Cisco CloudVerse

CloudVerse brings together the intelligence of the network, the power of the data center, and the flexibility of cloud applications for customers. This world of many clouds means numerous opportunities for Cisco partners to offer customers, whether it’s building clouds, selling cloud services, or designing and implementing cloud-ready networks.

Learn all about the new CloudVerse technologies and services.

Who won our “25 words” contest?

Drumroll please! Congratulations to contest winners Enrique Ramirez from Dell and Sven Wild from Dimension Data. They just won an iPad 2 for their creative responses of how Cisco products have improved the network.

Enrique wrote:
“After implementing Nexus 7000 switches on a customer data center, they were left speechless. ‘Now nothing will stop us from achieving a 100% uptime environment.'”

And Sven told us:
“My client has implemented the Cisco Collaboration Portfolio. Why? AAAA – Access Anytime, Anywhere, Anyplace and Anydevice. Attractive, Flexible and future proof!”

All of the entries were truly creative and we wish everyone who entered could’ve won. Read more about the contest (and the winners).

Imagine if the network went down while you were on an airplane…

No way, that’s not an option! And it’s one reason why Doss Aviation, a privately owned defense contractor, worked with Cisco solution provider Icon Integration to create a stable, secure, and compliant system using Icon’s Smart Services.

Smart Services help build closer customer relationships, increase profits

Major congrats to our Smart Care partners who recently helped Cisco reach its 3000th Smart Care customer mark! In a recent case study, Cisco Gold Partner BlueWater Communications Group revealed how Cisco Smart Care Service led them to success.

Services “cheat sheet” helps partners profit with Cisco Services

Services now represent 40-50% of Cisco channel partners’ business, up from 20% five years ago, but the reality is that traditional services models don’t allow channel partners to fully participate in the services opportunity. Now, Cisco is taking the next step forward to further clarify our sales engagement model and drive consistency in the field.

With all of the services available to help you drive differentiation and success in your market, it’d be great if you could have a cheat sheet so you know what tools are available at every customer engagement level. With the Services Rules of Engagement, you’ll have just that. It’s a document that defines how Cisco Services and Cisco partners will work together to meet customer needs.
