Talent Corner: Using Social Media for Recruitment, Retention, and Branding

Back in the day, hiring a new employee meant taking out an ad in the local newspaper, retention was not a concern because employees would spend their entire working careers at one company, and branding typically involved creating a logo and a catchphrase.

My how things have changed! And, social media is one of the biggest game changers when it comes to talent recruitment, retention, and branding. There are so many ways to use Web 2.0 for talent, but how do you use these tools effectively? In this video, Cisco’s own talent expert Mimish L’Esperance talks about ways to use Facebook, Twitter, video — and some new tools, too.

Cisco’s HR Talent Forums are regional day-long workshops that help partners hire, develop, and retain skilled talent,. The workshops will feature several speakers, including a session on emerging Web 2.0 strategies to help grow your business and talent exposure. The event will also include breakout sessions and networking.

  3. Social networking and the social media that drives effective recruitment is the beginning of a great new wave in recruitment and attracting talent. Done correctly a company can create brand recognition, reputation reinforcement and dialogue that will support a companies efforts to be recognized for their reputation and focused marketing or recruitment. I saw Mimish's presenattion and she was great!

  4. Social Networking Sites can be really helpful to everybody even for companies. Since many people are using these online tools nowadays, companies can easily spread their news to everybody. Just like the recruitment process in their company.
